Get paid to write from Home

It really is. It is the fourth quarter and Halloween is a week away. Thanksgiving is literally a month away, and Christmas is also around the corner. It is so hard to believe that we are entering into this year’s holiday season already.

I mean, I literally remember opening up my calendar at the beginning of the year! Now I am finding myself in Target lately looking at some new ones.

As a freelancer and writer the holidays can be a really distracting time. I know I can’t speak for all entrepreneurs, but I find the holiday season overwhelming.Especially, if I don’t have a clear strategy outlined.

  • Make a list, and check it twice…or as many times as you need to

I know it sounds silly, but I find creating a list helps me through that stressful time period. I rely on that plan, and it helps me to hurdle over my holiday anxiety. Creating a list is the perfect way to remain organized throughout the season. Lists are useful for so many reasons, and you can even multi-purpose some of your lists to fit other occasions. Create a list detailing your holiday plans for this season. Where you are going, What your plans are going to be when you get there, If you are giving gifts this year and to who, transportation, food etc.

  • There’s an App for That

In the wonderful age that we live in, there is literally an app for that. However, in the midst of all of the thousands of apps, how do you find the right one? Well from personal experience, you just have to play around until you find the right one. My top 3 iphone applications that I would say are amazing productivity hacks are:

  1. Today- Habit Tracker: This application has features that allow you to set and track your daily habits, then it sends you notifications at the end of your day. What I love about this app is that you can earn badges each time you keep up your set routine. It also is compatible with the Apple watch and has health tracking features which is a cool bonus.
  2. EverNote: I have been an Evernote user since 2011, and will continue to recommend it. I love using Evernote because it is simple way for me to organize the many different aspects of my life. From creating recipes that are organized into notebooks, to creating specific lists pertinent to each Holiday. Evernote also is compatible with the Apple Watch, and has dictation software that lets you take notes quickly on the go.
  3. Productive: I been using this Application since the beginning of this year and I absolutely love it! This application also allows you to set your daily habits on a schedule with great notifications and alerts to let you know if you are on track! The application itself is FREE, but with a paid subscription you can unlock some really awesome features.

  • Partner Up

Reach out to your friends, or family members to help you stay focused this holiday season. It’s always great to get a second pair of ears in on your holiday plans. You can get helpful advice, and even a possible accountability partner to make sure you follow through. If you don’t have anyone close enough to you to reach out to, then become active on social media. Some people have a hard time opening up to people close to them, and would feel more comfortable going to other people. Joining a Facebook group is one awesome way to find like minded people. I mentioned before how many amazing people I am now fortunate to know because of joining Facebook groups. Using hashtags on Instagram and Twitter can also be a great means of connecting you with people. You can exchange ideas, tips, recipes and just information useful for getting through this holiday season! I currently do not curate any Facebook groups, however if you reach out to me via social media and ask me a question, I’ll do my best to give you an answer.

  • Get Some Rest

This should have been the first hack on the list. In all the madness of the season do not neglect the most important person on your list, and that is yourself. It is important to pay attention to your body and give yourself what your body needs. Make healthy eating decisions, get some movement in, and most importantly get your sleep! You cannot get ANYTHING done, if you don’t even have the energy to do them. Your energy levels not only affect your job performance, but it also affects your mood. It’s really hard to put your best foot forward in any project when you are just not feeling it because you are tired. If you are struggling with making time to get some rest in the evenings then set a bedtime alarm on your phone. Then commit yourself to making that change in your schedule so that you can get the rest that you need. Using the productivity apps above are also great tools to help you with keeping that goal.
